SEI is Fired Up for Josh Cares Fire & Ice Event

By: SEI Team

Diverse people mingling at an event

For each of the last nine years, Fire & Ice guests have enjoyed a virtual vacation to a different exotic location without leaving the Greater Cincinnati area.  Click here to purchase tickets to the event and find more information.  Fire & Ice is the signature fundraising event for Josh Cares, raising over $100,000 annually in support of the Josh Cares Child Life Program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.   Josh Cares ensures that all seriously ill children, who are enduring a lengthy hospitalization without the consistent presence of a close family member, have a trusted caregiver upon whom they can depend to help ease their stress each and every day as they face painful, frightening and lonely times.

This year’s Fire & Ice theme, Latin Style, will introduce guests to the traditions and cuisine of the Mexican, Peruvian and Puerto Rican cultures.  Latin traditions are synonymous with high-energy, sensory experiences. The Fire & Ice committee, which is chaired by Lynn Pierce and includes professional designers and planners, will use this inspiration to transport guests South of the Border for an unforgettable journey. Food, décor, entertainment and cocktails will be infused with all things Latin. Think Machu Picchu, Mexican Courtyards, Tropical Rainforests and more.  Highlights will include the lively entertainment of Son del Caribe Band, Salsannati and Paul Gregory Whitt along with Mariachi performances.  The relaxed atmosphere of the event, and wide variety of offerings, makes for an enjoyable event for all who attend.  All inclusive ticket pricing begins at $250 and with a motto of “No Auction* No Raffle* No Tie Required,” Fire & Ice is a unique event far from a typical rubber chicken fundraiser.

SEI Support

Dan and Lynn Pierce established Josh Cares in 2005 in memory of Josh Helfrich, 10 year old son of SEI consultant Ann Helfrich, who tragically lost his life following a bicycling accident.  Ann, also a co-founder, continues to serve as an active member of the Josh Cares Board, along with Dan and Lynn.    Systems Evolution, Inc. remains Josh Cares’ all time largest corporate donor,  regularly sponsoring other Josh Cares events in addition to Fire & Ice, including Food Truckin’ for Josh Cares and our annual golf outing. At this year’s Fire & Ice event, SEI is serving as one of the lead “Theme Room” sponsors.

As in past years, plenty of SEI faces will be seen at the event, as many of SEI’s employees have been deeply involved in support of Josh Cares as donors and volunteers since the inception of the organization in 2005.  SEI-Phoenix Managing Director Aaron Detzer shares, “I travel in to attend this amazing event each year for many reasons. First and foremost, to support Josh Cares. Rarely can your charitable dollars have such a direct impact on those in need. The children and families served by Josh Cares are amongst the most vulnerable and in need of love and time. The work they do is so incredible. Also, there is no charity event I have been to that is more fun! The venue, entertainment, food and the crowd of supporters is second to none.”

In addition to SEI, Brower Insurance is serving as the event’s Presenting Sponsor for the first time.  Brower Insurance, a Marsh & McLennan Agency, is the trusted partner for both SEI & Josh Cares.   Josh Cares also welcomes Klekamp & Company as a first time sponsor at the Inca Sponsor level.

The overwhelming generosity and support of Systems Evolution, Inc., and the individuals who make up this fantastic company, have been a significant driving force in the success and growth of Josh Cares.  Please check back into the SEI blog next month for highlights and pictures from the event!
