November 2013 marked a major milestone for Josh Cares.  On November 6th, 2013, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Josh Cares celebrated eight years of providing support to some of the hospital’s most critically ill children through volunteerism and over $1 million in cumulative donations from Josh Cares to the hospital.  In addition, Josh Cares committed to raise an additional $1 million to further this important mission – this time to be accomplished within four years!  This was announced at a special gathering held at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) campus with Josh Cares leaders and senior hospital staff members.

The Origin of Josh Cares and SEI’s Involvement

Systems Evolution, Inc. is an incredible example of how a compassionate and committed group can make a pivotal impact on an organization’s ability to meet an important need within the community.  Josh Cares was founded in 2005 by SEI CEO and Co-Founder Dan Pierce and his wife Lynn in memory of a consultant’s child who lost his life in a tragic accident.

Not only has SEI served as Josh Cares’ top corporate financial supporter through frequent event sponsorships and company matching of generous employee giving, but countless hours have been volunteered to the organization by employees and consultants.  Ranging from board leadership, project management and skilled pro bono services to administrative support and lending manpower at special events, SEI has made it possible for Josh Cares to channel as many fundraising dollars as possible directly to our mission of ensuring that no seriously ill child feels alone and afraid in their parents’ absence.

The Mission of Josh Cares

Since 2005, Josh Cares has forged a unique purpose with the passion of its founders and donors, partnering with the inspired vision of board members and hospital leadership to provide vital companionship and comfort to hospitalized children. Cincinnati Children’s Board Chairman Tom Cody shared the hospital’s profound gratitude for the support of the community which has enabled them to provide such a highly specialized level of emotional care for an extremely vulnerable population of the hospital’s patients.

“At our core, both Cincinnati Children’s and Josh Cares are driven to improve the lives of children and families.  And we recognize that partnership is integral to that work. By working together, we were able to identify an unmet need and improve the patient and family experience — which is vital for positive outcomes…As a nonprofit hospital and research center, Cincinnati Children’s relies on the partnership of many to help advance research discoveries, continuously improve the quality and safety of our care, and train the next generation of pediatric experts. And with the ever-changing healthcare landscape, our partnership with donors — like our friends at Josh Cares — is more important than ever.”

Josh Cares connects our community’s individual donors, volunteers, local foundations, and corporations like SEI with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to support this vital program.
